Welcome to Ian Ritterbush EMS

When I first became interested in EMS, I never imagined my career would take me from busy 911 calls to remote mining camps in Alaska, wilderness environments, and austere medicine.

Over the past several years, I've had the opportunity to work in a variety of settings that have challenged me both professionally and personally. Each assignment has reinforced the importance of preparation, adaptability, teamwork, and lifelong learning.

I created this website to document that journey.

My goal is to share experiences from remote and wilderness medicine, discuss topics in critical care and EMS, and provide practical insights for paramedics, EMTs, and anyone interested in working in austere environments.

This won't be a place for sensational stories or patient details. Instead, I hope to offer thoughtful reflections, lessons learned, gear recommendations, training ideas, and career advice drawn from real-world experience.
